Silver Green Dream Machine

Fly Away

Sometimes I wish I could just disappear from the face of the Earth. People are their own worst enemy. Relationships and how we interpret each other's statements and responses in certain situations can lead to the most awful arguments, about absolutely nothing. About something that was never even implied in the first place. Fuck.

My Night

Hi there
This was taken on the 1st of February 2007 at about 11pm. It was very quiet outside and I was sitting next to the pool just watching this incredible sky. Everything inside me, all the day-to-day issues went quiet for the duration of the time I was watching and loving what I was seeing. And forgetting. In retrospect there was a time when I would have missed having someone with me to share this with, but it wasn't there that night. I think it comes and goes, like Winter.

I noticed just now that if you switch off your light while looking at the photo and concentrate on the Moon, it looks as though the sky is moving. I know what you're thinking: "He's having a flashback!" Well maybe. If only they could all be that peaceful :]

This poem is by William Butler Yeats, and for some reason this photograph made me think of it.
Goodnight

The Second Coming
1920

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.
Surely some revelation is at hand;
Surely the Second Coming is at hand.
The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out
When a vast image out of Spritus Mundi
Troubles my sight: somewhere in the sands of the desert
A shape with lion body and the head of a man,
A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
Reel shadows of the indignant desert birds.
The darkness drops again; but now I know
That twenty centuries of stony sleep
were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,
And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?

Meerkats and friends at the Johannesburg Zoo

Hi there
This morning after having surfaced and had a shower, I left to make a short stop at the zoo to see whether I could take some photographs of the meerkats that have an enclosure there. I arrived and it was about 13h30, so not really ideal time to shoot, but it was quite cloudy so if I wanted to beat the rain, I had to start... I need to go back to them for another session as I'm not in the least satisfied with what I got today :[ (sigh)

Crocodiles

These were taken in 2005 with my D70S and 300m kit lense. I have a 300mm with VR now and would like to spend a day out at this particular farm photographing these ladies and gentlemen. I wish they weren't stuck in any enclosure but humans being what they are, these guys probably wouldn't make it.

Dragonfly

Dragonfly

It's wings beat rhythmically,To a never ending pulse.
A dash of colored light,A shimmer of blue and gold.
Hovering above my head,Like one of the brilliant stars,
A glowing jewel of life.

Saturday evening 3rd February 2007 @ 19h47

Hi there. It's Sunday night and tomorrow is only 4 and a half hours away, give or take a couple of minutes. I watched 'Stay' this morning and it made the hair on my neck stand up. The photography is excellent. I still don't quite know what the hell was going on, but I enjoyed it nonetheless :]

Today's Sunday Times headlines showed how the South African government and other LARGE business institutions with their fingers intertwined with the government managed to squash First National Bank's Anti-crime initiative in the form of a very expensive newspaper supplement to the country. Beautiful. That's what we like to see. A government in denial about how many people in this country are dying and becoming victims of criminal activity. This way, it makes it easy to do nothing, because there is no 'problem' ala The Matrix quip 'There is no spoon'.

Lord help us all. While walking into my office this afternoon, two individuals were muttering to each other about me while looking at me. When I asked them both if they wanted something, they replied 'yes, my camouflage cargo pants. Come here tomorow morning and we'll show you...' Lovely. I have very warm feelings for them myself.
