There is no Spoon

Hi again. My last post was on the 7th of January and I have to think about where all the interim time has gone to. If 2006 was a fleeting year, this new year is even quicker. It'll be June in a little while and where will you and I be?

This is by Dylan Thomas.

Clown in the Moon
Dylan Thomas

My tears are like the quiet drift
Of petals from some magic rose;
And all my grief flows from the rift
Of unremembered skies and snows.
I think, that if I touched the earth,
It would crumble;
It is so sad and beautiful,
So tremulously like a dream.

---------------
You are always in my thoughts.

Making time for small things

Cleansing the Inside

I love fire. If I'd been through a bad experience with it, it would probably be very different. The same applies to sharks although that might be different. The sea is theirs (in my humble opinion) and I choose to go into where they live when I go swimming there. I have a good couple of photographs of some BIG individuals from the new aquarium in Durban that I should find and post.
Fire is hungrier than any shark, less discerning than greed and has no qualms about taste.

Little Moments

Hi there. Hope your weekend has been good to you. These were taken in July 2005. It goes quickly doesn't it? It's just about ten to 12 this Saturday evening and I think I need another cup of coffee. Listening to Linkin Park's Meteora :] at the moment. Has to be played loud to drown everything out. Makes me think of Drowning Pool whom I haven't listened to for quite a while. Go well.

Very Still Life

Nothing to say really. Sometimes you have moments like that :[ The people that are far away, take care.

Difference of Opinion

Last night, quite close to 12 o' clock the following gentleman came into the yard looking a little different. The anomaly was the copious amount of blood on his white shirt. He apparently called another gentleman's mother something that would indicate he knew her intimately (the other party is standing between the two security personnel from an armed response company). Said gentleman then felt an overwhelming obligation to defend his mother's morality and used a sharp object to cut into the other gentleman's skull. There was quite a lot of blood loss from this particular head wound.

I feel this is definitely something that should be posted because up to this point, only slightly pleasant material has been posted by me, and the photographs you see here with this post are just the tip of the iceberg when it concerns everyday-blood spilling in Johannesburg. We pride ourselves here in JHB in leading the pack when it concerns bloodshed and mean tempers in South Africa. What a gentle introduction to 2007.

The Backyard

One morning while bunking work (not intentionally - my camera forced me to take it for a walk), I ended up in the backyard and took these with a D70S and kit 300mm lense. The little dog's name was Huggy Bear. He died of tickbite fever shortly after the photographs were taken (23/11/2006). He just arrived in the yard a good couple of months ago as far as I know, and became one of the family as though he had always been here. One day he was here, the next he was gone. Very sad.

Nikkor 50mm AF f1.8D Lens Part 1

Hi there. This lens took about 3.5 months to arrive in my hands from my suppliers. I put it on to one of my D70s' and took a couple of photographs, nothing great, hence the 'Part 1' in this post's title. I'll carry on taking photographs until I start making it happen. It doesn't come with a proper lens cap at the back, nor a flare hood (is it really necessary?), but I like this lense nontheless. I've read very good reviews on it from a large spectrum of photographers, and despite a scant amount of negatives, the reviewers have all been fairly happy. I plan to take some portrait shots for the next round, although that might be problematic if the people don't want their pictures posted on the Internet... Hmmm. Have to think about this. Perhaps fashion mannequins. It's today already (Tuesday the 2nd of January 2007) and that means I must be in the office today... Yay! Frip Hooray! Where are my happy pills/lithium/Tequila shot glasses?
This is going to be like a Monday so Friday's going to be a day early. Lovely. Have a good one.

Dead Tree Moon

Hi. Everything of the best for 2007. Let's make it better than last year. A little girl was born to a very special lady at 19h07pm yesterday, so there's another Capricorn in this world. Yay!!!
